If you can't get enough of these dragged out one-a-dayish music countdowns (and they are really fun to make btw) but you'd rather see more bands you've never heard of, then I highly recommend perusing the blog of Brian Klein. And btw the Transplants were one of the bands that narrowly missed my countdown (for more of them, click here.)
Fresh out of batteries, but still makin' noise
At number 26 is everyone's favorite geek-rock band, Weezer. I saw =W= at the Borgata in Atlantic City, which is a great place to see bands because you are always close, however you usually pay an arm and a leg.
Wiki - Weezer is an American alternative rock band that formed in Los Angeles in 1992. The band now consists of Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, guitar), Patrick Wilson (drums, guitar, backing vocals), Brian Bell (guitar, backing vocals, keyboards), and Scott Shriner (bass, backing vocals, keyboards). The band has changed lineups several times since its formation in 1992.[8]They have released seven full-length albums, five EPs, and a DVD. Weezer has sold more than eight million records in the US to date.[9]
The band is best known for their successful singles "Buddy Holly", "Undone - The Sweater Song", "Beverly Hills", "Pork and Beans" and "Island in the Sun".

Weezer is totally power pop done right, particularly their first 4 (their first 2 being the best) albums. They are at their best when they embrace their geekiness and write geeky songs, rather than pretending they are cool. The last 3 albums are nothing worthwhile, minus a few good tracks like Pork and Beans and I Want You To.
next up: a band that's referenced in the first video
