Tuesday Top Five 6/16

Yeah, I know i've said that the 2009 music year is down but i expect it to get better with a lot of big names dropping albums later in the year.

However here are five songs from 2009 that you really need to check out.

1. Sonic Youth - Antenna (from album: "The Eternal")
The best song from the quartet in years. Reminiscent of their best song ever, "Teenage Riot".

2. Silversun Pickups - Panic Switch (from album: "Swoon")
Swoon is a great follow-up to their debut album Carnavaras, almost as good if not better. Panic Switch is a good lead single

3. The Airborne Toxic Event - Sometime Around Midnight (from album "The Airborne Toxic Event")
A cool little song that keeps evolving and evolving and about a feeling that we are all too familiar with.

4. Green Day - Peacemaker (from album: "21st Century Breakdown")
Too bad this album is average at best because it contains a couple songs that are right up there with their best work, this being one of them.

5. 311 - Daisy Cutter (from album: "Uplifter")
One album that I thought would continue the trend was 311's Uplifter, but I am happy to report that this album is far better than their last 2. The music is definitely the backbone of the album and is strong throughout, particularly on this track, which mixes in some of Nick's catchiest lyrics.
